My husband and I went off to Cape Town on Friday afternoon. Our flight left at 2pm and we arrived at 3.40pm but with waiting for luggage, car hire etc, it took us up to 4.30 pm to get everything sorted. Peak hour traffic from the airport to Onze Rust Guesthouse only took 30 minutes.
We were welcomed by Alzaane, a lovely young lady, as Ester had other commitments. Alzaane then showed us around the Guesthouse and then off to our room. Gorgeous !!!!!!
The room is beautifully decorated and there is an enormous king size bed which looked so inviting. There is a TV, mini fridge, 3 different types of tea, coffee sachets, sugar and sweetener. They also leave milk in the fridge (and they kindly left a bottle of champagne in the fridge). The bathroom is tastefully decorated. A big bath/shower, basin and toilet. They supply towels and linen, there are small cakes of soap, there is a bottle of shampoo, body lotion and shower gel. Rooms are also equipped with a hairdryer, safe, heaters/electric blankets and fans There is an electric shaving point in the bathroom. If you just want to sit around and relax, there are loads of books and magazines to keep you occupied.
There is work in progress for a new gate and road with parking, from the other side of the property. But, even with the work in progress, there was no noise. It is so peaceful.
The guest farm offers 12 en-suite rooms. The rooms have private entrances and even offer extra-length beds. There is undercover and open parking on site. Onze Rust's rates include breakfast, Continental and hot.
The Guest House is able to assist with conferences and weddings – a stunning venue for a wedding, there are so many beautiful spots for photos. There is a swimming pool, by request they will organize a barbeque in the garden, organize wine tours, day trips to Cape Town and Table Mountain, restaurant reservations, eco tours, massages on site and airport transfers.
We hired a car for the weekend and had dinner in Stellenbosch at the Cape Fish Market (Ester gave us money for our meal which was tremendous). On Saturday, we drove to Franchhoek and Gordon’s Bay. Sunday was spent in Hermanus and surrounding areas. There is just so much to see in the area. Onze Rust is +- 10 minutes away from JC le Roux estate. Ask Onze Rust to make the booking for a tasting of champagne and nougat (R55 per person). Everyone in the area is so friendly and cannot do enough for you.
Ester has been at Onze Rust for the past 5.5 years and has dreamt of establishing a ‘Hope and Inspiration’ centre for training, conferencing, coaching and weddings or parties. Alzaane speaks very highly of Ester and her achievements. Ester is a motivational speaker and also holds workshops at Onze Rust. To find out more, please phone or e-mail Onze Rust.
This was a fantastic weekend and I will definitely visit Onze Rust and will certainly recommend the Guesthouse. They will go out of their way to assist to ensure that you have a wonderful experience. The next time, I will ensure that I get to spend more time at the Guesthouse, to appreciate the beautiful view and facilities, just relax. The view is awesome!!! Onze Rust is a little piece of heaven.
Thank you so much for my wonderful, much appreciated, prize.
